Villa Maser (Barbaro)
|

|
| | DESCRIPTION: | Villa Barbaro di Maser is nearby, as is stated Villa Maser, about ten miles from Asolo, the famous hill towns of Treviso, on the road from Bassano del Grappa reaches Montebelluna (totaling approximately 60 kilometers from Vicenza and 30 from Treviso). Palladium is in charge of the project by brothers Barbaro: Marcantonio, an influential political figure, often involved in the architectural choices of the Republic of Venice, and Daniel, Patriarch of Aquileia, cultured and refined man, passionate about architecture, Palladio's mentor after the death of his first patron, Giangiorgio Trissino, in 1550. Such is the personality of the developers that the criticism assumes a significant role in designing their architecture, which does make the case to himself in the curriculum of the architect. Beyond the individual formal choices, however, Villa Barbaro marks a turning point in the definition of the model of the Palladian country house. For the first time, in fact, the residence and barns * are linked into a continuous, homogeneous architecture. This pattern in Maser is undoubtedly dictated by the location of the villa on a hillside that otherwise would have required a demanding work of terracing. The approach of the whole, however, seems to transcend the practical needs to satisfy that desire for unity of form that characterizes the mature works of the architect. The house itself occupies a building on the temple, advanced compared to the two wings, but a glance from the road, especially from the central perspective, is to face a nearly coplanar. The main facade is marked by four Ionic half-columns, topped by a triangular pediment sculptures ennobled by Alessandro Vittoria, an artist in the fullest account of the Palladium. Characteristic is the formal solution of the buildings placed at the end of the barns, with flashy sundial on the facade. The complex includes a small formal garden at the back, crowned by a large carved decoration ninfeo the exceptionally rich, obtained using the slope of the hill. Inside the home has a distribution that in 1560-61 Cross provides an opportunity to Paolo Veronese, among the greatest interpreters of Renaissance painting, to execute a fresco cycle of extraordinary realism, making the surfaces of times to run pictures with characters illusionist overlooking to balustrades. Twenty years after the construction of the villa, in 1580, Palladio at Maser will return to build the temple, the family chapel which is located in front of the villa, across the street. The park has been adapted to a rustic Carriage Museum, the result of collecting the most recent owners.
