THE VILLA EMO
|

|
| | DESCRIPTION: | Immersed in the countryside of the province of Treviso stands another outstanding example of architecture in the heyday of the Serenissima: The Villa Emo.
In the plan of Villa Emo, the architect achieves a perfect harmony between the architectural form, the functions to which it is connected, and the surrounding landscape. Inspired by the symmetry of Roman buildings, Villa Emo is a work that best represents the Palladium.
Villa Emo often been compared to Villa Barbaro at Maser. In these two innovative projects
the "porch" (wings), continuations of the central
home loans, do not enclose an outside area, but follow the lines dictated by the landscape, where the grid Romania may still be recognized.
The dating of the factory is controversial, but should set to 1558, after the Villa Barbaro and Badoer, with which it shares the general approach. Now accepted by the great aristocratic families of Venice, Palladio built the villa for Leonardo Emo, whose family owned property in Fanzolo the mid-fifteenth century. The area was crossed by the ancient Via Postojna, and the plot of the fields followed the grid of Roman centuriation. The villa is oriented according to this ancient pattern, as one can easily see from the building's entrances, lined up in a very long perspective.
The composition of the complex is hierarchical, dominated by the emergence of the master's house, built on a base and connected to ground by a long flight of stone, the sides straight and symmetrical wings of barchesse completed by as many towers colombare. The purism of the design is amazing how calibrated: just look like the columns of the loggia are absorbed by the wall for 1 / 4 of their diameter and graduating the passage from the cavity in the shadows on the walls in broad daylight. The order chosen is the Doric, the simplest, and even the windows have no frames.
Logic stereometric interior decoration of the exterior is unique, the work of the Baptist Zelotti, which had already intervened in the yards of Palladio's Villa Godi and Malcontenta.
